Taggart
Taggart
Upon the release of their last album Philadelphia Weekly described Taggart as “harking back to underground rock’s golden age during the half-decade leading up to Nevermind. The guitars are sweet and crunchy like super sugar crisp, purveying tasty hooks coated in distortion and jagged edges with gruff, half-yelped vocals reminiscent of Eric Bachmann (Archers of Loaf)”. A Philadelphia institution for over 20 years Taggart has never taken a break from writing, performing and recording. Over the years they’ve had the opportunity to open for some of their biggest influences, including Portastatic, Tommy Stinson, and even acted as Grant Hart’s backing band on a few Husker Du songs. They self-released their latest full length album, L’maskin, in February 2018.
The Space Merchants
The Space Merchants
The Space Merchants are interstellar travelers whose psychedelic imagination knows no bounds. Like the Universe itself their music is vast and impressive. Think Spacemen 3, Lungfish, The Black Angels, Will Oldham. Pulsing like a quasar, drummer Carter Logan and bassist Aileen Brophy provide the molten core around which expansive male and female vocals, the blistering guitar of Michael Guggino and the hypnotic keyboard of Ani Monteleone swirl in a melodic synthesis that in turns evokes a windswept prairie, a Hawkwindian black hole and a boogie band in the back room at the edge of the Earth
Thee Glitterbombs
Thee Glitterbombs are an irreverent Philly grrrl punk band. They formed in 2012 at Girls Rock Philly's LRC. Sometimes sweet and sometimes shrill, Thee Glitterbombs' essence can be compared to the likes of bands Bratmobile and Sleater-Kinney. They were named one of Billy Penn's Who’s Next Music: 19 young pros creating the new Philadelphia sound in 2017. Their limited edition first album, Diner / Karate 12" split with brother-band, Sick Panda, is available at https://www.facebook.com/TheeGlitterbombs
